The Velvet Snowstorm: A delusional hero, who has no real solutions. This is a great comic to sum up the Republican party! I’ve read three issues of the Velvet Snowstorm, and it’s hard for me to say if the creator is liberal or conservative… Dare I say moderate?

Anyway, the Velvet Snowstorm never clarifies to Alan Grayson what the Republican health care plan is. Instead he doesn’t do anything of much use; he lets Congressman Grayson jump in a trashcan, he vandalizes some balloons, and he terrifies a woman.

In the last panel the Velvet Snowstorm can be seen, happily walking out of the restaurant saying, “By then (the time Congressman Grayson gets out of the trashcan) we can get someone else elected in your place!” Which is the slogan for the Republican party right now, “Keep up this reform! 2010 is right around the corner!”

This comic is a great depiction of the Republican party, as soon as you think the Velvet Snowstorm is going to give you a solution. Bam! He puts misguided fear in people and crosses his fingers and hopes no one finds out the truth.

As for the comic itself, I give it about a 6, which is good. The art, expressions, and story were very well done. However I found that reading it could get quite confusing at times. Usually comic artists do a general format that reads top to bottom prioritized first and a left to right second. However, with this comic the creator put the text next to the character saying it. Because the text was done like this I had to read some panels twice.

Overall good job and keep up the good work.
