August 8, 2010 – Carol Browner
August 8th, 2010 by Rob Smith, Jr.

The following is something I started writing in response to Carol Browner being on Meet the Press this Sunday morning.
——————————
Carol Browner, lead environmental adviser to the White House  & supreme disappointment involving environmental issues is talking about cleaning up the oil issue on Meet the Press. If she is to be active on the issue, we’re all in trouble, based on her past performance.  While environmental secretary to Florida Gov. Lawton Chiles & then President Clinton, she did next to nothing for the U.S.  or Florida, where she is from.

It’s been perplexing to me how someone so effective in environmental issues prior to the political posts suddenly, and continues, to do little. She was a powerhouse prior to bureaucratic service in Florida. I remember back in the ’80s so many things she was involved in.  There was talk back when Gov Chiles brought her into, what became, the Department of Environmental Protection, that the Everglades would finally be dealt with, Growth Management strengthened and other issues. Yet, nearly the direct opposite happened.

She goes to Clinton White House with EPA and, again, environmental action from Washington slows to crawl. In fact, the graft of Everglades restoration reaches it’s height. Most of the government bucks went into “Consultants” pockets and the Everglades has, even now, seen little progress in restoration, which has to happen someway or there will be no potable water for South Florida in the future.

Someday I would love to know what the heck happened. AND how the heck she keeps being given political power? Is it that those who now bring her in know full well that they’re  wanting and getting  a dud? Obama has a history of not being an environmentalist and he sure chose someone for a post who acts like he seems to feel.
